Assistant, CIO Director ‘Innocent Chibaya’, Buried At Nharira In Chivhu

The late assistant director of the Central Intelligence Organisation, Innocent Chibaya, has been described as a principled man whose death has robbed the nation of a dedicated cadre.

The Minister of State Security in The President’s Office, Kembo Mohadi, who spoke during the burial at Nharira in Chivhu, says the late Chibaya left a void that will be difficult to fill.

Family spokesperson, Fulton Chibaya, says the late was a philanthropist by nature, paying tuition fees for various relatives and assisting wholeheartedly when the need arose.

The late Chibaya was born on the 19th of November 1961 in Chikomba district, Mashonaland district.

In November 1978, he and other Ordinary Level graduates at St Francis of Assisi were requested to join the colonial regime as soldiers.

Chibaya refused to join the settler army, instead joining the liberation struggle as a war collaborator.

He was detained, escaped and received military training in the front at Musikavanhu Sector in 1979.

Chibaya, who joined the Zimbabwe National Army in 1981, then joined the President’s Department and with his wish to safeguard the gains of Zimbabwe’s independence.

Chibaya rose through the ranks up to the post of Assistant Director, a position he held until the time of his demise.source-ZBC
